In 1994 through a ministry of All Saints' Episcopal Church in Pontiac, Michigan, retired teachers, who were concerned for an outreach in the neighborhood, began tutoring children at Crofoot Elementary school (now Jefferson/Whittier). Tutoring sessions were in the afternoon, two days a week.
- In 1995 the tutoring program was brought to All Saints' Episcopal Church and legally became "Bound Together." Because of the dire need of having a tutoring program in the Pontiac area, a third day of tutoring was added in 1999 as well as a summer camp program.
- In 2002, tutoring, enrichment field trips, and summer programming continued. In partnership with Christ Church Grosse Pointe, a satellite-tutoring program of Bound Together began in 2006 at Church of the Messiah in Detroit.
- In 2006 and 2007 Marygrove College conducted a four-week Kid's College summer camp program at Bound Together.
Our program is continuing to meet the educational needs for the children of Bound Together. Because of the commitment of tutors, the generosity of private donors and the charitable grant contributions that help make our program successful, Bound Together is committed to the children of Pontiac and to Creating and Educating a Caring Community.
