Our Programs
Tutoring Program
Bound Together is a volunteer-based program concentrating in the areas of math, reading and writing skills. In partnership with Jefferson/Whittier Elementary and other surrounding schools, each child is individually assessed by math and reading specialists and then tutored Tutoring at Bound Togetheraccording to their academic scores and needs. During the school year evaluations are given to assess the progress of each student in the program. Tutoring days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Tutoring at Bound Together is offered free of charge thanks to the support of our dedicated tutors, private donors, corporate sponsors and fundraisers throughout the year.

Tutor volunteers come from: All Saints' Episcopal Church - Pontiac, First United Methodist Church - Birmingham, Christ Church Cranbrook - Bloomfield Hills, Northbrook Presbyterian Church - Beverly Hills, St. Thomas More Catholic Church - Troy and the women of the AAUW organization.

The Kid's CafeFood Program
After all tutoring classes the children are served a nutritious hot dinner meal through our Kids Café program. Providing meals in combination with educational tutoring is a unique feature of Bound Together and we are currently serving approximately 7,000 dinners annually. The Kids Café is generously sponsored and serviced by St. Philips Episcopal Church in Rochester, MI. Additional sponsorship of The Kids Café is most welcome.

Summer Camp
Summer Camp
Bound Together's summer camp serves over 60 children who participate in this 2 week program. Bound Together's summer camp develops and improves students' knowledge, discipline, performance competencies and their appreciation of the arts and sciences as a means of communication. Our goal is to educate and develop creativity, strengthen academic skills, and heighten artistic and scientific awareness in a fun and learning environment.

To add to the excitement, the children go on field trips. The campers have made visits to the Detroit Zoo, Greenfield Village, the Childrens Hands On Museum in Flint, the Detroit Institute of Arts, Detroit Science Center, Museum of African American History and much more…

Special Events at Bound TogetherSpecial Events
Children in our tutoring program are treated to special events throughout the year such as Halloween Parties, Christmas Parties, Valentine's, Easter and End of the Year Parties.

Through in-kind donations from the AAUW (American Association of University Woman), and other charitable organizations and individuals, children have the opportunity to shop for that "special" gift to make a loved one's Christmas special.
